NEW GADGET
Ninja Portable Blender
Very excited about this situation! About to put this to immediate use while I'm working in LA this week—will report back. Without diverting too far from my normal routine, the plan is to blend up my daily protein smoothies easily and 'all-in-one'. Lots of reviews commented about the low low noise level and the convenience of drinking right from the blender.
I'll be bringing this with me during the two long days I'll be on set for a project—along with a bottle of coconut water and my favorite protein powder. Once I'm back home and and on my regular routine, I think testing this out when I workout / co-work at my social club will be fly. This way the smoothie can be freshly enjoyed when I complete my workout re-fueling me as I wash up to head into a creative session.
CURRENT OBSESSION
Ritual Protein Powder
A few weeks ago I caught this on sale - I already have the multi-vitamin on subscription so I added it to my cart. Plant-based protein powders, specifically with pea, have been all my rage lately. This ingredient goes into my daily post-workout smoothie and I'll also mix it into overnight oats + pancake batter.
Post Workout Smoothie Recipe: 8 oz coconut water, 1 cup spinach, 1 tbsp chia see, 1/2 frozen banana, pea protein powder, 1/2 cup of ice or greek yogurt
When I got my hands on this - I immediately fell in love with the packaging. The bag is super well designed, easily reseals to stay fresh and looks great in my cabinet. But even more importantly - the taste is incredible! It's not a one-ingredient blend (which I also recommend for 'cleaner' nutrition) but it's sweetened with a bit of monk fruit extract and contains 20g of protein per serving. I must admit - I've tried many protein powders this year alone... this one impressed me the most.
QUEUED UP
Good Energy
I caught an interview with the co-author, Calley Means, via The Skinny Confidential and the conversation blew me away!!! They discussed big pharma operations and basically how doctors don't mind if our conditions improve a little but we stay ill enough for treatment... it makes their practice more money in the end. The information shared during this podcast episode astounded me so much that I had to run it back.
Soon after I secure the audiobook titled 'Good Energy' written by the guest mentioned earlier and his sister Dr. Casey Means. I'm about halfway through and so many connections are surfacing for me around gut health, the medical system and the reasons why autoimmune diseases are on the rise.
KEY ROUTINE
Sleep Meditation
Can't say enough great things about the Open App, this mindfulness studio right at my fingertips really adjusted me to meditation. When I swipe through their classes, I feel like there is something for everyone! From stress cleanses to yoga flows and monthly challenges. IMO - there isn't a brand better at welcoming newcomers to meditation. Give it a try (your first month is free).
I'm in the habit of and highly suggest: sleep meditation. Doing this nightly for about a year now has helped me disconnect from my days and fall asleep faster. For me, meditating at the top of or during the day never worked. But sleep meditation hits different, I guarantee it. I slept for two hours before catching a flight to LA yesterday morning but still turned on a guided session as I closed my eyes - them two hours was quality!
ON DECK
Erewhon
I am currently publishing this newsletter on a work trip in Los Angeles. My weekend treat will be visiting the infamous Erewhon supermarket to try a smoothie and maybe shop for supplements! This is literally life in my thirties because grocery shopping and meal prepping this past week has replaced evenings at a wine bar or window shopping on Rodeo (I've actually shopped down Rodeo before, lemme flex one time 🤪).
If you're interested in a deeper look at what I've been up to and how I'm keeping my routines while traveling - subscribe to my YouTube channel! I am vlogging a two-part 'Travel Routine' series that will show how I prepare for a work trip in LA, maintain normal routines while directing editorial photoshoots and keeping up with client work.
FINE TUNE
camdenmusique
Spotify 🤝🏽 my classical jazz era. I love the ambience it creates for just about any situation. Something I love to do is turn on some tunes when I start my evening wind down. I'll play it in the background as I shower and read a novel before falling asleep. camdenmusique is a piano player you should check out!
What’s in your current rotation?! Put it on my radar in the comments plz—I LOVE trying thangs.
Until next time, thank you for reading another FINE DIET post. Follow me on Instagram and YouTube for daily routines, vlog content and real time updates, while I aim for this Substack to be more curated insights and thoughts.
